This is the story of a 400 year-old mystical man, the boy determined to find him, and the fairytale globe that grew from marvel and belief.
The Great Gavalan was a larger than life, explosive being; dark and mysterious in appearance, yet exuberantly colourful in presence. Every year, he would suddenly appear unannounced throughout the countryside, turning each village he fell upon into a Mardi Gras to the power of 10; a circus the size of cartoon dreams. And then one year, for reasons unknown to anyone, he didn’t return. And that was the end. At least that was the end until 400 years later, when a teenaged boy by the name of Dester Cantling stumbled upon the legend of The Great Gavalan. Since no one really knew what happened to the mythical figure, Dester decided that he must still be alive. And from there, the adventure begins. Dester sets out on a carnival-like quest through a dream of strange places and stranger characters, in order to search for, find and bring back to life his newly found hero, The Great Gavalan.
